Family Violence Prevention & Intervention Programs. For nearly three decades, The Consultation Center has been a regional and statewide leader in the delivery of violence prevention services to adult perpetrators of domestic violence. Each year, Center staff run ongoing psychoeducational groups in anger and violence management for male and female offenders as part of its Family Violence Programs. Innovative groups also have been developed for offenders with co-occurring substance use problems, for individuals who are monolingual Spanish speaking, and for women and adolescents.

• Family Violence Education Program: a psychoeducational program designed to help participants prevent recurrence of violence in their lives by learning new ways of coping with anger, stress, and frustration. The program consists of 90-minute classes held one evening per week for nine weeks at The Consultation Center. Two experienced professionals lead the classes for men or for women. Class size is approximately 20 people. Attendance at the first session is mandatory. Participation in the Family Violence Education Program is an alternative option to formal prosecution. Participants in the program are referred by their Family Relations Counselor through the court.
• Adolescent Violence Prevention Program: psychoeducational groups for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system.
